We
are a country church in the middle of nowhere, yet in
the middle of everywhere.
We
are only 10 minutes away from Summerside, Bedeque,
Borden, Kinkora and Kensington.
We
are a Nazarene church in the Wesleyan Holiness
tradition. What that means in the plainest,
simplest terms is that we believe that God can, and does
do amazing things in peoples lives when they follow him.
We believe the bible is His inspired word and it gives
all the lessons people need to be able to be sure of
spending eternity with Jesus.
We
have people from many different backgrounds who gather
together in Freetown. We have people with no
church background who gather here as well as people from
many different walks of faith who now call Freetown
Nazarene home. Many of those who come to Freetown
say it feels like home.
We
have the following words printed on our weekly bulletin:
Wherever
you are,
Wherever
you have been,
Whatever
you have done,
Whatever
has happened to you,
You
are welcome here
This
has its roots in the Gospel as told by Matthew
Matthew
11:28-30 New
International Version
28 “Come
to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I
will give you rest. 29 Take
my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. 30 For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light.”
You
are welcome at Freetown Nazarene Community Church.
What
We Believe
We
believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We
believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures,
given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth
necessary to faith and Christian living.
We
believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is,
therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.
We
believe that those who refuse to repent and follow
Jesus are hopelessly and eternally lost.
We
believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for
the whole human race; and that all who repent and
believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are justified and
regenerated and saved from sin.
We
believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly,
subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ.
We
believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new
birth, and also to the entire sanctification of
believers.
If you find yourself
wondering what any of this means, please feel free to
reach out to us or attend any given Sunday and we will
be glad to explain more to you.
